Is This The Life?

Today my sister and I took Van to the beach in Encinitas, We had lunch at the beach & watched all the little kids playing in the water! Splish splashing around! I got my hair chopped today too. It was fun and I needed a change. I feel new again. However I do have to say that when I got to the beach that I could not find a place to set up our stuff on the beach and that was annoying to me I come from a land where the beaches are clean and the sand is like sugar! So it was hard to walk down the beach sweating as I pushed the jogging stroller with all my gear looking for a small place to put my stuff. California has become so covered with people that you cannot find a place to park your butt on the sand. That's a little sad isn't it? Clean your beach.


Check out this cute pic of Conner reading to Van, take note of Van's toes, this hand like motion of him spreading his toes has been passed down from me. I can actually pick objects up with my toes, much like hands! So cute.

My sister Heather is here & we are having so much fun! Jason Conner's bro is here too, should be such a fun weekend, and then I take off for the east coast on Sunday! Oh the US open is this weekend.

We Heart Meem's

Van's Mimi AKA Meem's is here for a week, and we are having so much fun-o!
We got to go to the horse races and have a night out, Meem's has been such a big help, and we love having her here! She gives Van good lovin.


Today we went to da beach and watched dad surf! He is training hard for his big surf contest in Aug! Van has just now learned that he has a tongue and he likes to stick it out for the camera!


Van loves his thumb, it is actually his favorite thing to have in his mouth, no paci's just the thumb. And a blankie, he is a true Linus. What ever makes him happy! We had a fun weekend, thanks Mimi, and the beach was relaxing too, we needed it!

Take A Break.

I am busy selling things on ebay today so I don't have a whole lot to write about! Yesterday was good Van's apt went well, and we got to learn how to do stretches so his neck muscles will work fine in a month or so. His Mimi is here and tonight I am going to a girls night out for a mini massage, and appetizers, it should be a nice break. I am so excited for our trip to Vermont. i can already smell the clean air in my lungs. I have been needing to take a little time out from here it has been a little weird.

HOT water Please.....

So we went out for breakfast on Saturday morning, and I had my bottle all ready to feed van! I had pumped for at least a half an hour the night before. I was going to get my hair cut and Conner was going to take Van up to see some friends in Encinitas. I asked the waitress for the hot water, with a smile thinking how great I had planned this all out. Van would drink the bottle while we were eating breakfast, then I could go to get my hair cut and he would be fed. Well she picked up the bottle and walked away for a minute, I didn't think much of it but for a split second I wondered why she needed the bottle to get the hot water? Well she came back with the bottle but she had poured hot water into the breast milk in the bottle. That wasn't exactly what I was looking for..... Conner and I lost our appetite at that moment, and I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. Now what? I had 5 minutes to get to my hair apt. As trivial as it sounds, these are the kinds of things we deal with now. So I had to feed Van under my cape while I was getting my hair cut. Not so fun! Especially when getting your hair cut is a little treat just for yourself, a get away of sorts.


Anyways I found this website that I really like a lot, thought you might enjoy it too.

4 months

Van turned 4 months today!
We are flying to Vermont in a couple of weeks for a summer vacation! woo hoo. should be fun. Just Van and I are going.

Well it's official I quit my job to start working from home as a freelance designer and art director. I feel good about my decision, it was a very hard one to make. My family will always come first. I don't really want anyone else raising my son. I think this time with him is crucial in how we will later view the world around him, and me for that matter. We are developing a sense of security deep within him, and that means so much in this world. I feel confident I can keep working, so far I have already done one smaller job, but I am looking for more! I did a little photoshoot with Van yesterday and here are some cute pics of him, can't believe he will be 4 months tomorrow.

Fireworks and freedom!

Gosh I haven't written on the blog in a few days that is unlike me. I am usually so good about it.
Well, the fourth of july came and went, it is different now that we have a little one who hits the hay before it's dark out. I didn't see one firework this year not even a sparkler. I guess when your from Florida and your neck is a little red you look forward to seeing the firework display somewhere. I just realized it was this week last year that I found out I was pregnant with Van too. I was having fun on the fourth last year and didn't even know I had a little tad pole growing in side of me.

Anywho, This picture is of Van on fourth of July giving it up to the girls that were surrounding him, he threw up his arms and said I give up come and get me girls!!

This is my buddy Ford with Van, we grew up together and now we get to watch our kids do the same thing, it's pretty amazing. Especially when i see Kelton kissing my little one. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

On a side note our neighbors just got two pit bulls and when they play with each other they sound like terradactals... It is a strange sound. That frightens me a little.. hmm

I got to have a fun night out with the girls this past weekend, we danced for about three hours and I had the best king crab legs... We left the club we were at and I looked like I had just left the gym. It was a really fun night and I realized I need more of that medicine.... and I am not talking about my martinis and margaritas...

Sea World & Surf!

Hi. There. This past weekend we got to take Van to Sea World for the first time. With Jen & Jeremy & Laekin. I never realized that all of the animals at Sea World are rescued animals that wouldn't really be able to survive in the wild if they were still there.
I thought Sea World was like the Circus before I went, just keeping animals in captivity and making them do dumb tricks! I am glad we went. It was fun to be with friends and Van got to wear his little sun hat and sun glasses.

Oh yeah. Here is a picture of Van holding a water bottle, while he watched the shamu show & all of the people. everything goes straight to his mouth. No matter what it is. It's funny..

Don't really have too much else to say.... Oh wait a minute yes I do as a matter of fact. I surfed on Sunday for the first time since I had Van! It was so much fun, the girls watched Van in his little sun dome and I got to go out and have some fun. It felt great and the water was warm too.
