Officer fussareli
Conner likes to call him officer fussarelli when he is being fussy.
" Officer Fussarelli, don't pull me over". is kind of how it goes.
I call him butter bean, not really sure why it just comes out when I am talking to him. What the heck is a butter bean anyways?
Today he rode in the car for three hours with only one stop for a quick diaper change and some yummy food.
I resorted to giving him a paci on the way down to San Diego because office fussareli was coming out. I drove with one hand and held the paci in his mouth with the other hand. - in the back seat i might add. he is so little still that he doesn't know how to keep the paci in his mouth for long periods of time.
I really love every waking minute with the little man, oh and he really likes to listen to reggae beats, we play it on his ipod in his room or in our room and he gets real serious and concentrates. How can you not like Reggae!
Watch out for officer fussareli on those freeways! He may pull you over.

tummy time
A father and his son, bonding in the first weeks.
I love this picture of Van and Conner.
It is the ultimate feeling of safety and protection that only your parents can provide for you when you are just a little one. This little guy relies on us for everything, sometimes it is a little overwhelming that Van needs me each minute he is awake. But sometimes when I stare into his eyes, he smiles at me. It is not something he even knows how to do yet, but just a reflex. But I love seeing him smile and i look forward to the moment when he is big enough to smile at us and really mean it.
But for now these little reflexes are good enough to let us know that we are making him feel warm, cozy, clean, and all with a full tummy.
My days revolve around this little man, and I am adjusting to it. It is a major change from what I was doing a month ago. But it is so meaningful to me.
More later....... xo Dianne

the best things in life are free
Van found his thumb today, it's pretty amazing how we self soothe ourselves. I hate to say this outloud but I sucked my thumb until I was about 19. I finally gave up my woobie when i was 25 and have since gotten it out to give to Van. I remember that feeling of soothing yourself to sleep and being completley cozy with my thumb and blankey next to me.
That was all I needed to be happy once upon a time....
see you soon.

moving forward!
So being a mom, or learning how to be a mom is a beautiful thing.
I have enjoyed every minute so far, even the trying times when Van is screaming his (little head) off, it is not a big head like the drs told us. Weare learning how to take care of this little man, and he already looks older than he did when we had him last monday.
I have cried at least once a day in amazment that this is our son, and the ride of life is just starting. We can't wait to experience our life with him from now on.
He likes to eat also, and that part is a little tiring.
Just wanted to fill you all in, and thank you all our friends and family for your calls, emails, gifts, flowers, and LOVE!!!
See ya soon.
